DIRECTIONS
TO
THE SCHOOL HOUSE B&B FROM JEDBURGH
&
THE NORTH:
The most direct route from Edinburgh to Jedburgh is the A68 - a distance of some
50 miles. At Jedburgh head south
from the town on the A68 towards the Scottish/English Border, Corbridge and
Newcastle. Some 5.5 miles south of Jedburgh is the small village of Camptown
(see Map No.1). Here the road
starts a sharp climb through some established woodland.
As you clear these woodlands the road straightens and you will see ahead
of you on the right the Edgerston Manse. This
is a grey stone building with work sheds behind (see Map No.2).
As you pass the entrance to the Manse start indicating for a right turn
as the driveway to the School House is only some 50 yards after the next right
hand bend. As you approach this
bend you will see on the right the Edgerston Church.
The School House is next door. Our
black and gold sign and a white flag pole at the end of the stonewall mark the
entrance to our driveway, which is shared by Chapel Cottage and the village
hall. Our sign is illuminated at
night.

DIRECTIONS TO THE SCHOOL HOUSE B&B FROM THE NEWCASTLE AREA:
Turn off the A1 (M) Newcastle By-pass onto the A696, which is sign posted
to Jedburgh and Newcastle Airport.
Continue for some 29 miles on the A696 past the Airport, through
Ponteland, over the moors and through the village of Otterburn to the junction
with the A68 from Corbridge. Continue
north on the A68 for some 15 miles passing the villages of Rochester and Byrness
and the Catcleugh Reservoir to the Scottish Border at Carter Bar (See Map 1
above). Descend the hairpin bends
of Carter Bar and continue north on the A68 for some 3 miles when you will see a
turn-off to the right sign posted to Edgerston Toffs and a lorry park on the
left (See Map 2 above). Continue on
the A68 past the Rink Smithy B&B, round a slight left-hand bend and take the
next driveway on the left, some 300 yards from the Rink Smithy.
The shared driveway is just past a bus-stop sign and is marked by our
black and gold sign and a white flag pole at the corner of the stonewalling.
Our sign is illuminated at night.
