WINNER OF THE 2005 SCOTTISH THISTLE AWARD:

In October we were awarded the 2005 Scottish Thistle Award for Customer Care in the category of Guest Houses and B&Bs.  In this award, which is sponsored by VisitScotland, the judges were looking to "reward businesses that exceed customer expectations, making a stay or visit more memorable.  These important awards recognise that as a service industry, excellence in service, hospitality and customer care are core business objectives.  They were open to all members of VisitScotland's Quality Assurance schemes and no matter how large or small your business, it's the size of your welcome that counts! "

The judges comments on the award to the School House B&B were:
"This entry clearly demonstrated the high standards of customer care that are offered at The School House.  From the warm greeting in the car-park to a fond farewell Tony and Margaret Robinson treat all their guests on an individual basis with genuine warmth and personal attention.  When you stay at The School House you can expect the unexpected by way of discreet value added services to their guests.  There is a very good awareness of the needs of physically disadvantaged guests and for others with special needs.  This kind of personal service ensures that they have very high levels of satisfaction that translate into high levels of repeat bookings and recommendations.  They clearly enjoy welcoming guests to their home and take a genuine pride in offering a friendly and hospitable service to all."
